Snow and sledging

The snow came down so heavy last night that I knew today we'd be snowed in and couldn't wait to show the monkeys.

We arranged with friends to go sledging this morning and it was the best snow day we've ever had - well it was for me and blue monkey, pink monkey seemed to hate every second of it and I had to carry her there and back (and she weighs a lot now!).

The car wouldn't move and the cupboards were bare but luckily my friend with her truck brought supplies round so we didn't have to venture out again.

The rain has started now and the weather is mild so I think by tomorrow the roads will be passable again - but today was brilliant.

Ill monkeys

Firstly just realised my last post didn't post - so not double posting just publishing the last one!

The last 2 weeks both monkeys have been ill - I've spent more time out of work than in work which isn't great at year end - but suppose that's what being a working mum is all about.

Luckily they are both now on the mend do hopefully tomorrow I can get back into the office - and the lounge can stop being a medical bay.

Really bad news on the house move - the house we were buying has been taken off the market so back to square one again which is upsetting.

On a really positive note I've booked a holiday again with our friends which will be brilliant and someone asked me to make a picture for a new baby which I loved doing.

Is it going to stay?

Severe weather warnings? Well the snow has started will we be snowed in when we wake up? Blue monkey is poorly and off school and I don't have to go into work - so if the snow falls which I hope it will - I think it'll be a day of pjs and onesies.

Everything happens for a reason

This seems to be the quote of my life - one year ago the house I was purchasing fell through and the same thing has happened again. I was supposed to be moving in 3 weeks but that's not happening now. I've had a cry and felt sorry for us all - are we ever going to get settled in our own permanent home. But I suppose sobbing and thinking wont get us moving - so tomorrow I will start the search again.

Ups and downs

Some fantastic news I / we sold the house and that's the final thing to have sorted out - 2 years and it's all done. As usual though my life is one up one down - the house I'm buying might be delayed (I'm hoping it's not but I'll find out more this week)

Blue monkey has been a bit under the weather this weekend he's put himself to bed each day for an afternoon nap and spent a lot of time lying on the sofa - very unlike him. It's meant I've been giving lots of cuddles and he's been wanting to talk rather than run off which was lovely.

They went to a birthday party this morning - blue monkey was a quiet monkey (but he enjoyed it) and pink monkey was a very adorable nurse.

It's started snowing tonight - so far the ground is covered but the snow is coming down slowly - I have no idea if tomorrow we'll be snowed in or we'll be plodding through lots of sludge. I hope for the monkeys sake that there is lots of snow and the sledge I bought a few weeks ago gets used. For the first time ever I think I'm prepared to be snowed in.

1 week in

I'm still feeling slightly confident about my new year resolutions - after 7 days I am glad it hasn't all gone wrong yet.

To help me with the be healthier resolution I've downloaded the "my fitness pal" app and am logging all the food I'm eating - unfortunately I'm not exactly hitting the calorie targets it says I need to but I have a feeling it's about 1,000 calories a day less than I've been eating recently - so its a start.

I've also downloaded the "spending" app to track my money - unfortunately the next couple of months are going to be really expensive for various reasons but from march I should be able to start saving again.

It's been a really good weekend. The monkeys have been at their Dad's and I have decluttered and organised everything. I feel so positive about 2013 - hope everyone else is too.

Happy New Year

The end of 2012 was seen in with friends - drinking champagne, eating good food and laughing. The monkeys were tucked up in beds - where I could give them new years eve kisses - it was a perfect and unexpected night.

The start of the new year has once again been kicked off at a family party - the best way to start a year with people who love us.

The next few weeks - if all goes to plan - are going to be very very exciting - roll on 2013.
