I can't believe he's 4!!

My little blue monkey is 4 - I can't believe he's growing up into such a brilliant little boy (most of the time..). On the big birthday day i went and bought him his first proper bike - Ben 10 of course! - then we headed out for lunch with his nanna and our friends then onto Legoland - it was a great day he deserved every second of it.

The monkeys headed off to Daddys to enjoy the rest of the weekend and I had 48 hours to myself. Friday night I went out with my lovely friend - but we both got food poisoning (best not name the restaurant!). Saturday night was more successful a funny night out with the girls and even better as somehow Sunday morning I woke up without a hangover so headed over to Willowpool in Lymm for brunch which was fantastic, back home to get ready for an interesting night out. I feel like I've hardly spent any time at home this weekend but it's been a fun one z

Birthday party madness

So blue monkey is nearly 4, last year I has his party at my house - luckily the weather was great and it was Easter weekend so I did a big Easter egg hunt in the garden but I also said never again was I going through all that stress. So today was the big day and I stuck to my word and booked a local play place - Boomerang - for his party, I booked for exclusive use and it was great, we turned up, had fun, ate and everyone left relaxed and happy including me - blue monkey loved it.im just not sure where the last 4 years have gone!!!

Blue monkey is off to Big school

Today was S day - the day I found out which primary school blue monkey is going to in September - and I'm so happy he got his first choice. I can't believe he's off to school - even though he's been in nursery since he was 11 months old this still feels different - but there's still a few months left til the big day. And there's year left til pink monkey follows him

Mmmm Channing

Yesterday consisted of a 8 hour meeting by the time it had finished all I could think of was home, food, tv and bed but I'd said I'd go to the cinema and I didn't want to let anyone down so off we went to watch 21 Jump Street. All I really expected from this film was some pleasant eye candy in the form of Channing Tatum and a few laughs from Jonah Hill but I was really surprised it was a great film - not mind stretching but funny and easy to watch and I loved the cameo of a very special actor at the end (won't spoil it for anyone).

Today work has been slightly less tense and tonight I've had my cousin round for tea and a catch up. This is going to be a very very hectic weekend so I'm hoping that the monkeys have a little lie in in the morning.

And breathe

My friend who lives on the other side of the world from me - but who some days knows exactly how I feel sent me the below quote. What's the point in worrying about the future it's out of my hands.

Chorlton Life

Last night I went out with my friend Jo - we've been friends for 30 years (argh that makes us sound really old!) but its been ages since we've been out for a glass of wine or 2 without my two monkeys so last night her lovely hubby made us tea and then we got glammed up and headed out to Chorlton. We had a really good night - just what we both needed to catch up and chill out.

Then today it's been a beautiful sunny but cold day so when I got home I decided to head up Holcombe Hill - I love sitting at the top looking out it's so calm up there.

When I got home the house felt empty but luckily not for long as my mum, aunty and cousin suddenly turned up which made my afternoon.

I loved making the heart picture the other day but I wanted to have another go so I stopped off at the craft shop and picked up a few bits and did attempt 2 which I'm really pleased with - I think it's better and I've put this up in my kitchen instead.

So overall it's been a great weekend. Now it's feet up, glass of wine and watching The Voice before I have to go back to work tomorrow - weekends are far too short!

Hearts and friends

I love reading the blogs about crafty things - and I get a touch jealous that although I'd love to rustle up something from scratch I never seem to have the time or any ideas. However 4 weeks ago I made bath bombs - which I blogged about with my lovely friend Kat - and tonight we made these lovely heart pictures. Kat's is to go in her lounge and mine is for my kitchen which has a nice pink theme (one of the perks of living without a man!). Tonight was Kat's choice of project and I thought it was brilliant plus we always enjoy a glass of wine - hence the reason I probably have a couple of dodgy hearts!

Something that made me smile this week is that blue monkey got in trouble at nursery when he and his best friend got caught in the home corner playing you show me yours I'll show you mine. Boys will be boys - and a tale to tell when he gets older!

Long weekends!

Ok day 2 of the bank holiday and where as most people are loving the extra long weekend it feels no different to me yet as I'm always off on a Friday but tomorrow the monkeys are off to their Dads so I will get one lie in and one day of silence which after the past couple of weeks I'm very much looking forward to.

Had my friend and her little girl round for tea - a kiddy friendly Saturday night was really nice and i'm hoping that the monkeys sleep past 6am tomorrow - it really is far too early.

But how can I resist them when they look like this .....

Jamies New Gaff

We had a great night at the new Jamie Oliver restaurant in Manchester celebrating G and Ss' birthday - the only negative was it was a work night so the limit was one glass of wine but the wine was delicious I could have easily polished off a few more.

It's Good Friday today so we've been on an Easter egg hunt - blue monkey is over the moon with the amount of chocolate he came home with. His face was a picture grabbing eggs left right and centre.

Our Holiday

What a fantastic week - if I'm honest I was slightly apprehensive about going abroad with the two monkeys plus my mum but I shouldn't have been it was really good. Hard work but good I didn't at any point sunbathe or sit still for more than ten minutes but we all had a great time. We stroked snakes, went swimming, on the beach, ate ice creams, drank cocktails - ok I did and just the one- blue monkey bounced far too high on a bungee trampoline he's a lot braver than me, pink monkey has turned into stubborn no monkey I'm hoping that is a very short lived phase, and we all came home in one piece. Lanzarote was fun - and a lot better than last time I visited the island and couldn't wait to get home. Pity it's now back to normality but I really do feel like we've recharged our batteries and had lots of fun being together.
