Finally

I had a little list of new years resolutions - one was to read more. I used to love reading, I'd always have a book on the go, but since the monkeys have come along I stopped - last year I read 1 book! I was disgusted with myself - one thing I want is for the monkeys to enjoy reading as much as I did and by seeing me with a book in my hand they'll think it's normal. Well I've failed again - its now the end of July and tonight I have finished my first book of the year - ops - but maybe I'll beat last years total as I have another 5 months to read more.
In 2 weeks I'll be lying on a beach though -the monkeys will be having fun with their Dad - and I will be reading some more. A week in the sun without 2 little people to entertain I have no idea what I'll do with myself .....

Olympics and sunshine

Finally the Olympics have started - Mum came over Friday night and somehow the 2 off us who are lethal at falling asleep past 10pm stayed awake to watch the entire opening ceremony. I thought it was really good - some random parts but overall really entertaining. Best part of the evening was the queen "parachuting" in - it was a genius idea.

I realised that the hydrangeas in my garden had flowered and looked amazing so I brought a couple inside to brighten up my kitchen.

Last night I went to a friends BBQ luckily the rain held off - it was a really good night.

Way past bedtime

It's hot and sticky and pink monkey can't sleep so she's up and "tidying" up - she knows the right thing to do!
Blue monkey is fast asleep. Yesterday he had a trip to a&e and now has his head glued back together - an accident with a scooter and luckily he's fine he's a very tough monkey.
One more day in work then we can enjoy our weekend - I'm wondering what else we can tick off our summer bucket list, fingers crossed the sun keeps shining.

Impromptu Baking

It was lovely to have the monkeys home today. The sun was shining so we played bat and ball in the garden. Blue monkey told me all about his first swimming lesson and how much he loved it.

After pink monkey went to bed I left blue monkey watching telly whilst I started making tea for tomorrow night then he appeared saying shall we make cake mummy. Great idea we made a banana loaf - he helps so much he was responsible for peeling and mashing the bananas - and I've told him he can take into nursery tomorrow to share with his friends. So tea and cake made for tomorrow - that's a good night in our house - oh and when we finished he told me how much he loved me - my heart melted.

3rd Time Lucky

Finally I've managed to get pink monkey's hair cut - the last two times I've taken her we've managed to get the fringe cut but that involved copious screaming but this time she sat like a very big girl happy with everything - so she looks gorgeous with her lovely hair. Just a pity I couldn't get her to sit still for her photo. I got my hair chopped short again - it was definately time for a change.

Crafting or cinema?

It's been a busy week at work I'm covering various areas so trying to please everyone and running around a bit more than usual - it has however made a change and as its not forever I've coped .... just.

Tonight the girls were off to watch Magic Mike - and as I've said before I am a fan of Channing Tatum - but when I finally got home the thought of leaving the house again came lower on my list than putting my pjs on and collapsing on the sofa.

After some relaxation I thought it was about time I finished off the yarn wreath I started last weekend. This is my second attempt and I'm enjoying experimenting with colours and accessories - this one is now in pink monkeys bedroom - this picture doesn't do it justice (if I say so myself!) My friend has asked me to make her one so I'm obviously not too bad.

Teacup Candles

Tomight was our monthly craft night - I'm not sure if K loves it as much as I do but to me it's the chance to try something new and have a giggle and catch up at the same time. K was in charge tonight and she'd bought the bits to make teacup candles - I've been wanting to try this for ages. It was the most simple thing - teacup and saucer, wax and wick, melt wax pour into teacup. add wax - using pen to keep in place - and wait to set. I now have a very cute teacup candle on my dresser but think I will move it into my bedroom. We also had an additional visitor - pink monkey couldn't sleep - mixture of teeth and being too hot, so she joined us for a little bit and helped K make a felt flower, I was quite proud I taught her that simple thing but it looked very cute.

Our Summer Plans

So summer hasn't really started yet but hopefully it's just round the corner. I've seen these summer lists on various blogs and thought I'd steal - ops I mean borrow the idea. I think having things written down so you can jogs the memory - and why should it only be boring to do lists that are pinned up. Anyway limited time and resources meant I cheated and printed our list out but its stuck in pride of place in the kitchen - blue monkey can't wait for crazy golf and i think pink monkey got most excited when I mentioned ice-cream.

Early early present

I'm a very very lucky girl and I've received a very early Birthday and Xmas present (told you it was early) off my lovely Mum. My new laptop has arrived and yes I admit I did pay extra to have it in white - just so much nicer (although will have to make sure it has no grubby little finger prints on it). The first thing I did was register on Skype so I am now waiting for my friend down under to log on and we can have a face to face talk - now that is exciting its been too long!

Stone Roses amazing!

Last night I braved the rain and with 75,000 others stood in
Heaton Park and watched the Stone Roses and it was amazing. Somehow managed to find all my friends - or should I say they found us as I had given up hope. The rain held off mainly and we even managed to get the lads to do the bar run for us. I was worried that they wouldn't live up to the hype but they did and the atmosphere was brilliant. We all had our wellies and waterproofs on to brave the rain and mud but it meant we managed to stay upright - we saw a few sights of people falling over in the mud. So glad we got tickets and so glad I went with all my brilliant friends.
